I was just wondering what everyone's impression of the state of the US Big Three automakers are? I live around Detroit, so I know that we see things a little differently here. I can tell you that the general perspective around here is that GM has turned the corner, and the Ford is on the way down. I know it may sound old fashioned, but I really am rooting for the comeback of the domestic automakers. I don't think that many people around the country know how much it means to this area. Imagine if all VC money just dried up out in California., and all people started buying produce that came from Chili and no one was buying California produce. Any thoughts or comments???

Locally, in Ontario, Ford Oakville is cutting it's workforce somewhat, while switching to a flexible plant facility. My brother-in-law in Windsor barely escaped a recent major lay-off. Morale is not very good at either facility.

In my house, we've owned a lot of American-made vehicles, and recently some foreign-made ones. We've had a lot of problems with the American-made ones. Not-a one with any of the foreign models (two hondas and my lil' Hyundai).

When American car companies start producing vehicles that don't give as much grief as all our American cars have, then maybe, just maybe, we'll start buying American again.
